How to Set Schedules & Scenes in the Smart Life App

Scheduling (timers) runs devices at specific times. Scenes (or automations) run one or many device actions together based on time, device state, or triggers. Use schedules for simple timed tasks and scenes for combined or conditional automations.

What you need

  • Smart Life app installed and logged in (iOS / Android)

  • Your SmartRuma device(s) already added to the Smart Life app and online

  • A Zigbee / Wi-Fi gateway if the device requires a hub

Step-by-step: Create a Schedule (timer)

  1. Open Smart Life and go to the Smart (or Automation) tab.

  2. Tap the “+” or “Create” button and choose Schedule / Timer (sometimes labelled Timer or Schedule).

  3. Set the time you want the action to run.

  4. Choose Repeat (Once, Daily, Weekdays, Custom days).

  5. Select the device you want to control (e.g., Aegis A7 switch) and choose the action (Turn on / Turn off / Set level).

  6. Save the schedule.

  7. Test the schedule by changing the time a minute ahead to verify the device responds.

Example: Turn on living room lights at 7:00 PM every day → choose device “Living Room Switch” → action “Turn On” → Repeat: Daily → Save.

Step-by-step: Create a Scene (single button multi-device)

  1. Open Smart Life → Smart tab → tap + → select Add Scene.

  2. Name the scene (e.g., “Movie Night”).

  3. Tap Add Action and pick one or more devices and the actions you want (lights dim, curtains close, TV on).

  4. Optionally choose a Condition (time, device status, or device triggers). If you want a manual scene button, leave conditions empty — the scene runs only when you tap it.

  5. Save the scene.

  6. You can now run it from the Smart tab, add a shortcut to your phone home screen, or trigger it via voice assistant.

Example: Movie Night → Lights: 30% → Curtains: Close → Save.

Step-by-step: Create an Automation (triggered scene)

  1. Smart Life → Smart → + → choose Add Automation or Conditional.

  2. Set the Trigger (e.g., Time, Device turned on, Sensor detected motion, Location/Geo-fence).

  3. Set the Action (which scene or device action should run).

  4. Optionally add Conditions (only run if before midnight, only if presence = away).

  5. Save and test.

Example: If motion sensor detects movement after 11:00 PM → turn on hallway light for 2 minutes.

Tips & Best Practices

  • Test immediately after creating schedules or scenes to ensure devices respond.

  • Use repeat rules for routines (daily/weekday/weekend).

  • Keep scene names simple and localised (e.g., “Solat Mode”, “Movie Night — Living Room”).

  • For reliability, prefer local Zigbee automations (via hub) for critical automations — they are less dependent on cloud.

  • Share devices with family members so scenes and schedules can be managed by others.

  • Use scenes + voice: Link Smart Life to Google Home or Alexa to run scenes by voice.

Troubleshooting

  • Devices not responding? Check device online status and hub connection.

  • Schedule ran at wrong time? Confirm device phone / hub timezone settings and app time.

  • Scene partially works? Make sure each device in the scene is online and the selected action is supported.
